Underfloor heating in Chelmsford usually goes into a kitchen extension or a ground-floor refit, connected to the gas boiler that 77% of the Chelmsford area homes already have. We are about 20 minutes from Chelmsford. The very hard water here, about 360 ppm, does not reach the sealed floor loops but does reach the boiler, so we plan scale protection at the same time.
Wet underfloor heating runs warm water from your boiler through pipe loops under the floor, turning the whole floor into a low-temperature radiator. It suits kitchens, extensions, bathrooms and open-plan ground floors where wall space is short, and it works with a gas combi or system boiler through a mixing valve and manifold.
We design the pipe loops for each room from its heat loss, install the manifold, pump and mixing valve, lay the pipe in screed, on an overlay board or between joists depending on the floor, pressure test it before the floor goes down, connect it to the boiler and commission and balance each loop. Room thermostats and zone controls let you run it separately from the radiators upstairs.
We have installed underfloor heating across Essex alongside the boilers and radiators it connects to, so the whole system is designed by one firm. Gas Safe registered (925538), family run, and quoted after a free survey.

77% of the 47,456 households around Chelmsford heat with mains gas only, 12% are electric only (2021 Census, ward level).

Questions about underfloor heating in Chelmsford
How much does underfloor heating cost?
It depends on the floor area, the floor construction, the number of zones and whether the boiler needs upgrading, so we quote after a free survey. Fitting it into a new extension while the floor is open is the most economical time, and retrofitting into an existing floor with an overlay system costs more.
How quickly can you install it?
Underfloor heating is planned around your build. Call 01268 855605 early, ideally before the floor is designed, and we will book the survey and fit the pipework at the right point in the schedule. The engineer will tell you how long the install takes for your floor when they have seen it.
Does underfloor heating work with a combi boiler?
Yes. The manifold has its own pump and mixing valve that blends the boiler flow down to the lower temperature the floor needs. We check the combi has enough output for the floor and the radiators together, and set the controls so the two zones can run independently.
Which floors can it go under?
Screed floors in new extensions take pipe clipped to insulation before the screed is poured. Existing solid floors can take a low-profile overlay board. Timber floors can have pipe laid between the joists with spreader plates. Tile and stone conduct heat best, engineered wood works well, and thick carpet with underlay holds the heat back.
