Radiators wear out, rust through at the bottom, end up in the wrong place after a kitchen refit, or were never big enough for the room in the first place. We replace, add and move radiators across Essex, and fit the thermostatic and lockshield valves that let you control each room separately.
For a replacement we size the new radiator to the room's heat loss, not just the space on the wall, and choose the type you want: standard panels, vertical or column radiators, designer models or heated towel rails. We drain down or freeze the pipework, fit the radiator and valves, refill, bleed and balance the system so the new radiator heats at the same rate as the rest.
We are heating engineers, not fitters, so a radiator job includes a look at why the old one failed and whether the system needs a flush or inhibitor. Prices are quoted before we start, and we have been doing this in Essex for more than 40 years.

Questions about radiators and radiator valves
How much does it cost to replace a radiator?
It depends on the size and type of radiator and whether the pipework needs altering, so we quote before we start. A straight swap onto existing pipework is the simplest job. Moving a radiator or fitting a designer model with new pipework costs more, and the quote sets it all out.
How quickly can you fit a radiator?
Radiator work is planned, so call 01268 855605 and we will book a date that suits you, allowing time for the radiator to be supplied if we are sourcing it. A leaking radiator that needs isolating is treated as a repair and prioritised.
What size radiator do I need?
The size depends on the room's heat loss, which comes from its floor area, ceiling height, windows, outside walls and insulation. A radiator that is too small never brings the room up to temperature, and one that is too large wastes money. We calculate it rather than guess from the old one.
Are thermostatic radiator valves worth fitting?
Yes, in most rooms. A TRV shuts the radiator down once the room reaches the temperature you set, so bedrooms and spare rooms are not heated to the same level as the living room. Keep one radiator without a TRV, usually where the room thermostat is, so the boiler always has somewhere to send heat.
Can you move a radiator to another wall?
Yes. We reroute the pipework under the floor or along the wall to the new position, refit or replace the radiator and make good the old pipe tails. Tell us early if the move is part of a kitchen or bathroom refit so the pipework goes in before the units or tiles.
Why is my radiator cold at the bottom?
Sludge has settled in the bottom of it and stopped the water circulating there. A single radiator can be taken off and flushed, but if several are affected the whole system needs a power flush and inhibitor, or the sludge will simply move to the next radiator.
